Here’s a myth we hear all the time: “I can’t deal with e-invoicing until I get a proper accounting system.” It isn’t true, and believing it causes most of the last-minute panic we see. (New to the mandate? Start with our plain-English guide to NRS e-invoicing.)
What compliance actually requires
- Structured invoices. Each invoice must be created in a standard electronic format (based on UBL and sent as XML or JSON), not as a PDF, a Word document or a paper receipt.
- Clearance before your customer receives it. The invoice data is sent to the NRS Merchant-Buyer Solution, through an NRS-accredited provider, and checked before it reaches your customer.
- Proof of validation. Once cleared, the invoice comes back with an Invoice Reference Number (IRN), a cryptographic stamp (CSID) and a QR code. That’s what makes it a valid tax invoice.
What's missing from that list
Notice what isn’t there: an enterprise ERP system or complex software integrations. You don’t need to hire developers, build API connections or run a months-long implementation project.
What you need is a tool that creates compliant invoices and connects to the NRS system for you.
The gap most tools miss
Most e-invoicing tools are built as integration layers for companies that already run large ERP systems. That leaves smaller and growing businesses without a straightforward option.
That’s why we built Feezka Books: a simple, standalone bookkeeping app for recording daily sales, keeping business records and issuing e-invoices from one dashboard, with no ERP, technical integration or software overhaul. We’re completing the NRS accreditation process so that Feezka Books can clear invoices directly with the NRS.
Your next step
If you’re invoicing manually today, your path to compliance is shorter than you think. Start by checking your readiness with our free checklist, which you can download above. And if you’re still weighing up whether to act now, read about the real cost of non-compliance.
